Brand name Summary
Layla got its start in 2016 and has considering that progressed into one of the most popular bedding destinations on the market. In addition to the all-foam Layla we’re looking at today, the brand name also sells a hybrid mattress, 2 pillows, sheets, weighted blankets, accessories, and more!

Though we will not be entering all these items in this review, we will take a little time in the future to measure the all-foam Layla against its hybrid equivalent. We’ll also compare the Initial Layla to some of its stiffest competition, specifically the Nectar and Casper bed mattress. Layla Queen Mattress Review.

But before we enter into any of that, let’s turn our attention back to the Layla!

What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I discussed up leading, the Layla is a flippable mattress that features both a “Firm” and “Soft” side. No matter how you orient the bed, both sides include top and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior areas of poly foam. For the function of this review, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll describe both setups below.

How exactly does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive below the cover to find out.

Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester blend. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s relaxing and plush.

Comfort – With the “Soft” side flipped up, the convenience layer is comprised of a 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam. This product has a slow response to pressure, so provides the sleeper with lots of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a minor credibility for overheating, the foam here has been instilled with cooling copper to keep the temperature levels low. This is a significantly thick layer of memory foam, so I can currently inform that the “Soft” side could be terrific for side sleepers (more on that later on!).

Shift – Up next, you’ll arrive at a transitional layer of poly foam. This product is much firmer than the one above it, helping to curb the memory foam’s deep sink and shift the sleeper into the firmer base materials listed below. Layla Queen Mattress Review.

Support – And just what are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super solid and stable, this material provides the mattress with the majority of its foundational support. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer essentially operates as the base. However, when the bed is set up to the “Firm” side, this section becomes a firm transitional layer that supplies assistance to the lower back and hips.

Base–  Last but not least, we arrive at the second and last layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s just an inch high, so you can’t actually feel it when the bed is in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to flip it, though, this would become the comfort layer. It wouldn’t supply nearly as much pressure relief as the 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam we’ve currently seen, however could return and combo sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we’ve got a solid sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s get into how it feels, beginning with firmness. Layla Queen Mattress Review.

As with any feel element, firmness is subjective, and can alter a lot depending on one’s body size, shape, and weight. My read of this bed’s firmness might vary from your own. For recommendation, I have to do with 5′ 10″, 190 lbs. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.

Since the Layla is flippable, I chose to offer it 2 firmness scores. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Company” side, I arrived on a 7.5/ 10. To offer these scores some context, the market standard for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to state that these scores are a bit extreme.

” Soft” side: As quickly as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft setup, I might feel my body sinking into the luxurious top layer of copper-infused memory foam. The product contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, supplying me with that timeless memory foam “hug.” I believe this feel would probably work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.

” Firm” side: On the “Company” side, it was rather another story altogether. By switching out a 3″ leading layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed unexpectedly becomes extremely supportive. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which develops a solidly “on top” of the bed type ambiance. I think this feel could work best for back sleepers in need of firm support at the hips and lumbar region.

Evaluating the Layla Mattress
Firmness is important, but it’s just one piece of the feel puzzle. To get even more particular about this bed’s total vibe, I’m now going to evaluate it for two other factors: Pressure Relief and Movement Transfer.

Pressure Relief
Pressure relief describes a bed’s ability to reduce stress at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This step will be valuable for all sleepers, however particularly so for those who battle with joint discomfort. To assist you visualize how exactly the Layla eliminates pressure, I’ll be evaluating it out with a pressure map.

Basically, it works like this: I present the gadget, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records just how much force I’m putting in on the mattress, developing a colored “map” of the pressure. For reference, blue shows areas of low pressure and red suggests locations of high pressure. Layla Queen Mattress Review.

Back
As I pointed out above, the “Firm” side was the most comfortable for back sleeping, in my viewpoint. It set my spine in a great, neutral line by keeping my hips raised in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I discovered that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfortable.

Side
When I turned onto my side, I felt a ton of great pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick top layer of memory foam cradled my shoulders and provided me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. Regarding be expected, the “Firm” setup didn’t offer me with almost as much pressure relief, so might not be the best orientation for stringent side sleepers.

Stomach
No matter whether I had the Layla configured to the “Soft” or “Firm” side, I would not state this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Stringent stomach sleepers tend to choose solidly firm bed mattress that raise the sleeper completely on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Queen Mattress Review.

Motion Transfer

Let’s wrap up this section with a look at motion transfer, which describes the amount of movement detectable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will want to take note of this feel factor, though it will most likely be most pertinent for those who share their bed with a partner.

To highlight this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pound. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and determined the disruption it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disruption.

These are great motion transfer results, which tells me that you shouldn’t be too bothered by your bed mate’s movements in the night. The star here is the thick top layer of memory foam, which works to take in movement and transfer it evenly across the surface of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you select whether you desire firm assistance or softer comfort. Side sleepers will probably choose the soft side, while back sleepers can select whichever fits their preference. Layla Queen Mattress Review.

Layla Pros:
If you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed includes a great deal of the material, so epitomizes its characteristic sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are concerned, I believe side sleepers will choose the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will probably be better off on the “Company” side.
I ‘d also state that this bed has truly low motion transfer, which marks it as a solid option for couples. Layla Queen Mattress Review.

Layla Cons:
If you’re looking for a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the bill. There’s not a lot of bounce here, which results in more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type ambiance.
I ‘d also say that the mattress isn’t supportive adequate to bolster heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will desire something with a bit more raise to make sure that they’re placed on top of the structure.

Summary:
Layla includes an all-foam, flippable style with different firmness levels on each side. This allows sleepers to experience a various feel merely by turning the mattress over. Layla’s convenience layers include memory foam for significant pressure relief, and in our screening we also found the mattress to sleep very cool. Layla Queen Mattress Review.
