Brand name Snapshot
Layla got its start in 2016 and has because progressed into one of the most popular bed linen locations on the market. In addition to the all-foam Layla we’re looking at today, the brand name also sells a hybrid mattress, 2 pillows, sheets, weighted blankets, devices, and more!

Though we will not be entering all these items in this review, we will take a little time in the future to measure the all-foam Layla against its hybrid equivalent. We’ll also compare the Initial Layla to some of its stiffest competitors, namely the Nectar and Casper bed mattress. Layla Hybrid Mattress.

But prior to we enter any of that, let’s turn our attention back to the Layla!

What is the Layla Mattress Made Of?
As I discussed up top, the Layla is a flippable mattress that includes both a “Company” and “Soft” side. Regardless of how you orient the bed, both sides include top and bottom layers of memory foam surrounding interior sections of poly foam. For the purpose of this evaluation, I was sleeping with the “Soft” side up, though I’ll explain both setups below.

So, how exactly does a flippable mattress work? Let’s dive underneath the cover to discover.

Cover – The Layla cover is made from a thick polyester mix. It’s got a soft hand feel that’s relaxing and plush.

Convenience – With the “Soft” side turned up, the convenience layer is comprised of a 3″ area of copper-infused memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, so provides the sleeper with plenty of body-contouring and sinkage. And while memory foam does have a slight credibility for getting too hot, the foam here has actually been instilled with cooling copper to keep the temperature levels low. This is a substantially thick layer of memory foam, so I can currently inform that the “Soft” side could be great for side sleepers (more on that later!).

Transition – Up next, you’ll arrive on a transitional layer of poly foam. This material is much firmer than the one above it, helping to curb the memory foam’s deep sink and shift the sleeper into the firmer base products below. Layla Hybrid Mattress.

Assistance – And what exactly are we transitioning into? A 4″ layer of high-density poly foam. Super solid and steady, this product provides the mattress with most of its fundamental assistance. When oriented with the “Soft” side up, this layer basically works as the base. When the bed is configured to the “Firm” side, this section ends up being a firm transitional layer that supplies assistance to the lower back and hips.

Base–  Lastly, we arrive at the 2nd and last layer of copper-infused memory foam. This one’s only an inch high, so you can’t actually feel it when the bed is in its “Soft” orientation. If you were to flip it, though, this would become the convenience layer. It wouldn’t supply nearly as much pressure relief as the 3″ section of copper-infused memory foam we’ve already seen, but might return and combo sleepers a subtle hug at the lumbar region.

How Does the Layla Mattress Feel?
Now that we’ve got a solid sense of what’s going on inside the Layla mattress, let’s enter into how it feels, beginning with firmness. Layla Hybrid Mattress.

As with any feel element, firmness is subjective, and can change a lot depending upon one’s body size, shape, and weight. My read of this bed’s firmness could vary from your own. For recommendation, I have to do with 5′ 10″, 190 lbs. and prefer to sleep on my stomach.

Given that the Layla is flippable, I decided to give it 2 firmness ratings. On the “Soft” side, this bed gets a 5.5/ 10 from me. On the “Company” side, I arrived at a 7.5/ 10. To provide these ratings some context, the market standard for medium firmness is 6.5, so it’s safe to say that these scores are a bit severe.

” Soft” side: As soon as I hopped onto the Layla in its soft setup, I might feel my body sinking into the plush leading layer of copper-infused memory foam. The material contoured around my shoulders, hips, and lower back, supplying me with that timeless memory foam “hug.” I think this feel would probably work best for side sleepers or those in need of deep pressure relief at the joints.

” Company” side: On the “Company” side, it was rather another story altogether. By swapping out a 3″ leading layer of memory foam for a 1″ layer, the bed unexpectedly becomes very supportive. There’s hardly any contouring at all, which creates a sturdily “on top” of the bed type vibe. I think this feel might work best for back sleepers in need of firm assistance at the hips and lumbar region.

Checking the Layla Mattress
Firmness is essential, but it’s simply one piece of the feel puzzle. To get back at more specific about this bed’s total ambiance, I’m now going to check it for two other aspects: Pressure Relief and Motion Transfer.

Pressure Relief
Pressure relief describes a bed’s ability to ease stress at the shoulders, hips, and lower back. This step will be important for all sleepers, but particularly so for those who deal with joint pain. To help you envision how exactly the Layla alleviates pressure, I’ll be evaluating it out with a pressure map.

Generally, it works like this: I roll out the device, hop aboard, and let the map do the rest. As I roll around, the map records how much force I’m exerting on the mattress, creating a colored “map” of the pressure. For referral, blue suggests locations of low pressure and red suggests areas of high pressure. Layla Hybrid Mattress.

Back
As I discussed above, the “Firm” side was the most comfortable for back sleeping, in my viewpoint. It set my spinal column in a nice, neutral line by keeping my hips raised in alignment with my shoulders. On the “Soft” side, I discovered that my hips sank a little too far into the structure for the position to be comfy.

Side
When I turned onto my side, I felt a lots of great pressure relief on the “Soft” side of the bed. The thick leading layer of memory foam nestled my shoulders and provided me with an ultra-cozy deep sink. As to be expected, the “Company” setup didn’t offer me with almost as much pressure relief, so might not be the very best orientation for strict side sleepers.

Stomach
Despite whether I had the Layla set up to the “Soft” or “Firm” side, I wouldn’t state this bed is a hit for stomach sleeping. Stringent stomach sleepers tend to prefer solidly firm bed mattress that raise the sleeper completely on top of the bed, which the Layla is not. Layla Hybrid Mattress.

Movement Transfer

Let’s finish up this area with a look at motion transfer, which describes the amount of motion detectable from one side of the bed to the other. All sleepers will want to take note of this feel factor, though it will probably be most appropriate for those who share their bed with a partner.

To highlight this movement transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, Eight inches and 12 inches and measured the disruption it triggered: the larger the lines, the larger the disturbance.

These are great motion transfer results, which tells me that you shouldn’t be too troubled by your bed mate’s motions in the night. The star here is the thick leading layer of memory foam, which works to absorb motion and transfer it uniformly throughout the surface of the bed.

Should You Buy the Layla Mattress?
The Layla is a memory foam mattress in a box that let’s you pick whether you want firm support or softer convenience. Side sleepers will most likely prefer the soft side, while back sleepers can select whichever fits their choice. Layla Hybrid Mattress.

Layla Pros:
Firstly, if you’re a fan of memory foam, you’ll likely be a fan of the Layla mattress. This bed includes a lot of the material, so characterizes its particular sinkage and contouring hug.
As far as sides are concerned, I believe side sleepers will choose the “Soft” orientation and back sleepers will most likely be much better off on the “Company” side.
I ‘d likewise state that this bed has really low movement transfer, which marks it as a solid alternative for couples. Layla Hybrid Mattress.

Layla Cons:
If you’re searching for a bouncy bed, the Layla will likely not fit the bill. There’s not a great deal of bounce here, which leads to more of a “stuck-in-the-bed” type ambiance.
I ‘d also say that the mattress isn’t encouraging enough to strengthen much heavier folks as they sink into the bed. These sleepers will want something with a bit more raise to guarantee that they’re positioned on top of the structure.

Summary:
Layla includes an all-foam, flippable style with various firmness levels on each side. This permits sleepers to experience a different feel merely by turning the mattress over. Layla’s comfort layers incorporate memory foam for substantial pressure relief, and in our screening we likewise discovered the mattress to sleep really cool. Layla Hybrid Mattress.
